The Elliott Bay Book Company is Seattle's leading independent bookstore and hosts an incredible reading series. Elliott Bay moved from it's location in Seattle's Pioneer Square (a historic district that is known as the source of the term "Skid Road") in April 2010. On the new location, Elliott Bay Book Company says,

"Be assured--the new place will have its own distinct charms, many of them very similar to what people have known and enjoyed about our Pioneer Square home. Everyone that we know of who's had a sneak peek as construction has ensued has gone 'wow' in appreciation and anticipation."

Other Info
Steven Winn's daughter's pleas for canine companionship led his family to adopt a "scraggly, man-hating, terrier mix" who wasn't so sure about his new home—and especially Steven Winn. He's here to share his charming tale of perseverance, as told in his book, Come Back, Como: Winning the Heart of a Reluctant Dog (HarperCollins). Steve Winn, one of the founding staff members of The Seattle Weekly, was a longtime staff writer and arts and culture critic at The San Francisco Chronicle, where parts of Come Back, Como initially appeared. "Even people who don't much care for dogs, and I am one, will be moved and entertained by Steven Winn's story of pursuit and rejection and renewed pursuit between man and pooch. Its real subject, transcending species, is the struggle for understanding between minds and hearts." - Adam Gopnik.

Special midday at Elliott Bay reading! Followers of the residents and goings-on at Jon Katz's Bedlam Farm won't want to miss this special noontime appearance here as he reads from his new book, Soul of a Dog: Reflections on the Spirits of the Animals of Bedlam Farm (Random House). Here he speculates on free will, sense of self, and consciousness as experienced by these animals, which include sheep, donkeys, chickens, and, of course, his sheepdogs. "Jon Katz understands dogs as few others do, intuitively and unburdened by sentimentality. His keen insights cut to the heart of the human-pet relationship—its immense joys and painful sorrows. With wisdom and grace, he unlocks the canine soul and the complicated wonders that lie within, and offers powerful insights to anyone who has ever struggled with, and loved, a troubled animal." - John Grogan.
